Flexibility & Change Energize Life!

Something New is about to begin. Flexibility and change can be just the thing to energize your life and your child’s life.

It’s all in how you view the new, as to how your child views it too.

A New Teacher? A New Class? A New School? A New Home? A New Baby? New, New, New is what a child’s life is all about and these are just a few of the changes that can impact your life and theirs. The key to how your child reacts, is all in the way you react to that change. Why? Very simply, they are going to take their lead from you. If you prejudge it, they’ll prejudge it. Send out negative reactions and comments, and your child will view it as a negative experience. Send out energy and excitement over what is about to begin and you may just make it the best experience of your child’s life.

THINK BACK…

Take a minute to think of all the things that have changed and affected your life and advanced you into different directions. How did you react? Did you go into the change with a lot of uneasiness and concern? Did you dwell on how this would alter the things you were used to? OR… Did you look at the change as a new way to reach your goals and dreams? As you look back on your reactions, are there things you could have done differently? Would adjusting the way you approached a situation, caused a better outcome or maybe just a totally different outcome. Would you approach the change the same way at your current age, if a similar experience happened?

MOVE FORWARD…

These are questions to ask yourself as you help to guide your child through the many changes and life altering experiences that they will have as they grow. Teaching a child flexibility and instilling a curiosity and excitement about something new that is about to happen, will allow them to face change and adjust without anxiety and fear. Teaching acceptance, sending clear signals on how exciting a new experience can be, can give your kids the ability to look forward to change, develop great relationships and continue a positive transformation into adulthood.
